ZomTalks is a series of lectures that feature individuals of diverse backgrounds and disciplines who share insight and knowledge from their area of expertise with our community. ZomTalks aims to discuss ideas that inform, inspire and empower.
This week’s talk is “Zartonk: Reinterpreting Armenian Folk Music in a Global World” by Zulal Folk Trio.
Zulal is an a cappella trio of Armenian-American women who reinterpret and revive ancestral folk songs and celebrate the trials and joys of old Armenian village life.
These images of the past come to life in Zulal’s arrangements, hearkening back to a simpler time, providing tokens of comfort in our increasingly complex, modern world.
The talk is in English, and is open to everyone.
Join us on Thursday April 12, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. in Zavarian Student Association’s Apo Ashjian Center, Bourj Hammoud.
